Is there any Newness Around?

Is there any newness around?
Creaking old sits tight,
Holding onto its tentacles that spread like
The convoluted arms of a moth-eaten monolith;
Standing unreasonably tall,
Unwilling to crumble
In spite of the acrobatic advances of
Those who drum around the new wave
Ready to flush the hitherto worshipped
Past glory.
Is it the middle road that the seekers seek?
With its safety locks and sliding windows,
To let the new in and cherish the old.
Why does the unfamiliar road seem so ghoulish
With its petulant pollutants roughly breezing around,
Compelling a David to cover his face;
Hide his sprawling identity.
Unrelenting repercussions unleash and skin
The fledgling idea that dared to show up
On a whim- in its desperation to have a life of its own.
Trivialities, with their tails upturned, roadblock the
Mavens uprise and whiplash
The lightning, that readies to gobble the dark corners,
In a futile effort to thrash the thundering
That celebrates self-adjusted rhythm.
This comic-tragedy of now and then
Entertains the onlookers
That falls in neither class
And thus maintain their on-off equilibrium.
