– A translation of the poignant Bengali verse Swapno Dekhbo Bole sung by Moushumi Bhowmik.
I discerned that you, someday, Strolled miles along the saline sand; I never felt the marine,
Never glided in the blue,
Never let my eyes rest on the soaring bird. YET again when you delve into the deep Take me by your side, will you??
I discerned the other day, You, You and You
In an anthology, established perplexing puzzles? Raised posers, said the ugly unsaid?
Why running a rat race?? Why deceitful lying??
Living for your own sake?? If love’s labour lost,
And silenced seclusion – Where to trace tranquility??
I discerned that you all Do dream;
Do engrave chronicles; Do sing in profuse strains; A soul’s fuel and the fall Tolls your compassion?
Wonder! The labour of your love Flourish the filthy flower??
Shattered I come beseeching you today –
I glimpse the dark in the lights of my eyes, Sleepless slumber procreates no vision.
My dream to enliven I come to you.
I come to you, With wide open arms!!
