Poem-2
Shridhara C.R.
I have seen this creature
Licking dust
Moving
It barely rises from the hard earth in a bad weather
Sometimes the triangular head is turned
To check
Whether the black armour still shines.
Scaly tail raised in silly satisfaction
The yellow eyes seek some new green
I have seen it
Climbing one of those soft breasts and suck
The sweet milk
Careful not to spill too much poison.
It crawls and curls on the white belly and
Pushed into nightmares
By those deep breaths.
I have seen
The angry head rising
With those venomous fangs
The broken earth hurt by the cold blood
Pumping fast
The whole body bending to strike hard
Before the mirror.
I have seen it.
